Abstract: | Prior to his current position, Keith Hawkins had built four design centers as part of the leadership team of his former semiconductor companies. In this talk, Keith will share his experience and observation of building design team in the past to the current challenge and opportunity to build it from almost ground up. Keith will further delineate on getting upper management support, common goal setting, planning and execution, building the core design leadership team, site selection, recruitment process, head count growth and design tools selection, building relationship and communication channels with other SOC design centers and manufacturing centers. |

Speaker’s Bio: | Keith joined Samsung in April of 2010 as the leader and founding member of Samsung Austin R&D Center (SARC). The focus of SARC is on the development of advanced CPU and GPU IP for use in Samsung’s SOC products primarily targeted at the high-end of the mobile market. Keith has over 30 years of design and management experience in IC development. He has been involved with microprocessor, embedded and telecommunications development over the course of his career. He has managed and worked with design teams around the world including building a number of successful design centers. In addition to his current position with Samsung he had a long tenure with AMD where he was responsible for Server and Client product development plus he has worked at Sun, Alcatel and Mostek. He has a BSEE for Texas A&M and MBA from University of Dallas. |
