Abstract: | Many engineers consider public policy a peripheral concern in their careers. The Internet and the rapid adoption of new technology has placed the need for a common understanding between the engineering and policy communities in the forefront. In this presentation, the speaker will trace his engineering career over 50 years in the context of public policy. He will also outline some of the issues and opportunities that today’s engineers might consider for their own career path. |

Speaker’s Bio: | Len Hause is a Senior Technology Advisor for the U.S. Department of State in the Office of the Coordinator for Cyber Issues. He is also president of MashBrain LLC where he consults on transformational strategies that leverage Internet technology and marketing. He was a Fellow of the Technical Staff, Associate of the Science Advisory Board, Internetologist, and Senior Marketing Director at Motorola where he spent more than 30 years in global management roles and as an individual contributor. He has been recognized as a pioneer in the adoption of Internet protocols and culture within the Enterprise for innovation, collaboration and organizational learning. He was an IEEE Science and Diplomacy Fellow, and is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, The Recording Academy and has served on many industry, educational, corporate, and government advisory boards and consortiums. Len holds U.S. Patents in telecom and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. |
