Topic:Not just H2O — why water quality is important
Abstract:Groundwater is an important source of water for Texas.  In 2010 more than 60% of the water used in the state came from the ground.  Groundwater resources are managed through public stakeholder participation.  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) develops technical tools (e.g. groundwater availability models) for use by the citizens of Texas so that they can make science-based decision when developing groundwater policies.  A series of four educational videos will be shown at the talk to introduce the basics of aquifer science and how the results are used in developing groundwater policy.
