Extreme Value Analysis
10 October, 2022
Live Meeting at Asian American Resource Center and also on Zoom
Topic: | Extreme Value Analysis |
---|---|
Abstract: | Extreme Value Analysis (EVA) is a statistical methodology for making inferences about rare events, typically ones that can result in severe consequences, such as extreme weather, financial risks, material/equipment failures, epidemics, solar cycles, insurance losses, and much more. This talk will provide an introduction to EVA, including the theoretical basis for it, a demonstration of EVA computations using Python and R, and specific examples of its use in practice. |
Speaker: | Al Reich email: al.reich@gmail.com |
Speaker’s bio | Al Reich‘s area of specialty is probability & mathematical statistics. Al worked in industry for his entire career (40+ years) in the area of scientific computing, including Space Shuttle onboard & ground navigation analyses, machine reasoning for automated planning, resolution enhancement technologies, such as optical proximity correction, for semiconductor manufacturing, and machine learning for cyber-security. Al retired in 2017 and spends his time painting, computing, and e-biking. (More at https://linktr.ee/alreich) |
