Abstract: Say farewell to your toggle switches!  The future is here and like so many other things, lighting is becoming automated.  Driven by government mandated energy programs, lighting control requirements are becoming more stringent but also more useful.

This presentation was fascinating as Douglas Braun went through the evolution of lighting control stages from the early days of the humble toggle to the sophisticated voice, ambient light and human presence sensors available today.  As he stepped through the process, he discussed the energy savings and the complexity of design/installation, as well as the amazing ambiance creations of modern lighting. He stressed that homeowners need to talk with a lighting specialist about their needs and wants within the architecture of their home, and not leave it to the basic architect or contractor proposals.
