Southwest Research Institute’s Robotics and Automation Section has designed, installed, and maintained large-scale robotic systems providing media-blast paint removal for F-16 and similar aircraft for over 25 years.  The group is now designing an advanced laser-based mobile-robotic coating removal system that can process the largest commercial aircraft.  The mobile robot is 15 m tall, has a 13 m reach, and deftly wields a 20 kW CO2 laser.  Michael Rigney will present a technical overview and conduct a tour of the Laser…
