UT Dallas and the IEEE Transportation Electrification Initiative & IEEE Dallas CVT/CE Chapter to collaborate on a special Distinguished Lecture event to be held on the University of Texas Dallas campus November 14, 2014, 10am – 3pm.

The purpose of the event will be to:
• Inform audience about recent trends in EV power train subsytems, design and control
• Attract grad/undergrad students as the candidates of future IEEE members and engineers
• Provide networking opportunity for people from government-academia-industry

The Working Abstract of the event is:
With the government requirements for reducing emissions and improving fuel economy, automotive companies have been developing electric, hybrid electric, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Electromechanical energy conversion systems and power electronics are key enabling technologies for the development of these environmentally friendlier vehicles and implementing the advanced electrical architectures to meet the demands for increased electric loads.

In this distinguished lecturer event, a brief review of the current trends and future vehicle strategies and the function of electric machines, battery/charger systems and power electronic subsystems will be discussed. The requirements of power electronic components and electric motor drives for the successful development of these vehicles will also be also presented.
