Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Norman, Bergey Windpower is a pioneer in the global small wind turbine industry. Famous for its flagship Excel 15 (15 kW) and Excel 10 turbines, Bergey designs systems specifically for rural homes, agricultural farms, microgrids, and remote telecommunication infrastructure. Bergey turbines feature an oversized rotor diameter and a simple heavy-duty mechanical structure backed by industry-leading 10-year factory warranties.
Founded by father-and-son, Karl Bergey and Michael Bergey, their focus has been on simplifying the design of horizontal-axis wind generators through research and development of special airfoils, passive blade pitching, rotor speed controls, and low-speed magnetic alternators. With installations across all fifty states and in over 120 countries worldwide, they estimate that they have sold more than ten thousand wind turbines over the past fifty years.
