IEEE Transformers Academy

November 14 @ 5:00 pm - November 16 @ 12:00 pm CST

The IEEE Region 5 Transformers Academy is a high-impact IEEE leadership initiative that brings together a balanced cohort of 50% experienced IEEE veterans and 50% emerging professionals for a weekend of solutions-focused collaboration. It fosters the exchange of institutional knowledge and fresh perspectives to co-create meaningful, real-world strategies that address enduring challenges. The Academy cultivates a pipeline of intrapreneurial and entrepreneurial leaders empowered to engineer bold, transformative solutions that elevate both IEEE and the broader technology ecosystem. Each interdisciplinary team will produce a publicly accessible white paper proposing actionable, scalable strategies to advance technology for humanity. These open-source publications aim to spark global collaboration and replication across industries and institutions.
Agenda:
Friday Evening: Spark Social

A casual networking mixer providing a relaxed space for participants and invited guests to connect and set the tone.
Saturday: Core Working Sessions

Participants are divided into small, interdisciplinary project teams (mix of veteran insight and emerging leadership).

Teams are assigned pre-identified problem statements or thematic areas (e.g., STEM outreach, education equity, technology-driven community development).

Facilitated brainstorming, solution mapping, and strategy design sessions culminate in the collaborative drafting of an open-source white paper.

Evening: A celebratory networking dinner.
Sunday: Broader Engagement & Growth

Focus shifts to broader IEEE engagement and professional growth through lightly facilitated discussions and informal networking.

Participants are exposed to the range of IEEE activities, leadership pathways, and working groups.

The academy concludes with a collective reflection on next steps and ongoing collaboration opportunities.
