HOU Section Volunteer Engagement in IEEE R5 Meeting 2018

It was great to see so many HOU Sec volunteer engagement in the recent IEEE R5 Meeting held in between April 6th and 8th, 2018 at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin, TX.

Some HOU Sec members volunteered as judges for the Region 5 Student Competitions, held on Saturday April 7th, which included Ethics, Robotics, and Technical Papers. All competitions were open to undergraduate students.

Rest of the members attended the Leadership Development and Training meetings to have discussions on Leader Development, Officer Reports, Finances, Educational Activities, Membership Development, Affiliate Group Reports, Development support, and updates on overall IEEE leadership direction.

The annual event was capped by a Saturday evening awards banquet which recognized the winners of student competitions, and recognized outstanding IEEE individuals and programs across the 26 Region 5 Sections.

IEEE HOU Sec chair Alice Wang and Vice-Chair CB Sanderson immensely appreciated the HOU Sec volunteers for their active participation and contribution in keeping up the HOU Sec spirits high. Without our HOU Sec Volunteers throughout the year, we wouldn’t have been able to receive the R5 Best Large Section Award for 2017. Great Job HOU Sec Team!

Volunteer leaders are always needed, if you have an interest to become more involved in the Houston Section, do take a look at our IEEE Houston Section web page to find which committee you want to work with and volunteer.
