University of Houston IEEE Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) Epsilon Epsilon Chapter Information Session

On Tuesday, November 27, 2018 the University of Houston (UH) HKN Epsilon Epsilon Chapter held an information session was facilitated by Christopher Sanderson, IEEE Region 5 South Area Chair and IEEE Houston Section Vice-Chair. The IEEE UH Student Branch President Javier Garcia has been hard at work in trying to get the Epsilon Epsilon chapter reinstated after a few years’ hiatus. The information session had about 21 potential candidates from the College of Engineering with various degrees from Electrical, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering interested in learning more about Eta Kappa Nu. Some were quite surprise to learn that IEEE and HKN is open to all Engineering and Technology majors meeting the programs requirements. “It surprises my fellow colleagues and others when they learn that I’m a Mechanical Engineering Technologist major”, says Christopher Sanderson. Which goes to show that IEEE and HKN are open to all with an interest in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, but more importantly with an interest in “Improving technology for Humanity.”

Application are now being accepted for the IEEE UH Spring 2019 class. Contact College of Engineering Office . Dr.Badri Roysam, or IEEE Student Branch Chair, Javier Garcia for additional details.

The nomination for membership into HKN is not only academic achievements but a recommendation from Department Advisor. Candidates also show leadership potential, both while in school and in the course of their professional career.
