Christopher Wright of Sullivan Wright Technologies, a Little Rock-based IT and cybersecurity services firm will show us some of the best – and worst – ways to implement cybersecurity at your company or institution. About our speaker:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris is a native of Central Arkansas and a gradate of the University of Arkansas College of Engineering. He is also a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker). He served 12 years in the US Air Force as a Communications Engineer and Cyber Operations Officer as both active duty and a reservist. His previous civilian employment includes The MITRE Corporation and FIS. Currently, he is a founding partner in Sullivan Wright Technologies, a Little Rock-based IT and cybersecurity services firm that focuses on providing cybersecurity services and expertise to small businesses in the state. As well as serving small businesses, he also teaches with the Forge Institute and Arkansas Center for Data Science Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Training Bootcamp. Additionally, Chris is a game master with JOLT Cyber Challenge, a capture the flag competition hosted by The Venture Center. He also volunteers with a community group called Central Arkansas Hackers, is an organizer for Little Rock Tech Fest, and mentors several junior cyber professionals and students one-on-one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This informational and entertaining program is intended for a wide audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will include the dedication of an IEEE Milestone in 3 locations: Hanford, Washington USA<\/a>, Livingston, Louisiana USA<\/a>, and Cascina (Pisa), Tuscany ITALY<\/a>. These are the sites of the two LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatories) antennas in the US, and the Virgo antenna at EGO (European Gravitational Observatory) in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will learn about what led to construction of these antennas, whose kilometer-scale arms can detect the tremendous gravity resultant from the merger of black holes and binary neutron stars that are up to 3 billion light-years away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caltech’s Rich Abbott will lead a discussion with Drs. Rainer Weiss, Kip S. Thorne and Barry C. Barish, who jointly were awarded the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics<\/a> “for decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parallel development of the European Virgo antenna will be addressed by key Virgo antenna contributors Kathy Nary Man and Jean-Yves Vinet. Current Asian developments will be described by Takaaki Kajita, principal investigator of Japan’s KAGRA antenna, who shared the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics<\/a> “for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other contributors from the US, Italy and France, along with government and agency dignitaries, round out the program, which will conclude with the unveiling of bronze IEEE Milestone plaques at each of the 3 sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
