The annual IEEE region congress and student competitions took place between 27th to 29th this year at Boulder, CO. Wichita Section scored some big wins at the final day’s award ceremony.

The Jim Leonard Outstanding R5 member was awarded Dr. John Watkins, recognizing his services as the chair of the Greentech conference and R5 meeting last year.

The Outstanding Young Professional was awarded to Demy Alexander, who had served as the Circuits competition co-chair last year as well as involved with various student branch and IEEE-HKN related activities.

The Outstanding Small Student Branch was awarded to Wichita State University IEEE student branch

In the student competitions, 12 students participated representing the Wichita Section across the 3MT, circuits, ethics and robotics competitions this year, and the following students were awarded podium places.
Anthony Lam and Viet Nguyen – Ethics competition 1st place
Nirasha Bataduvaarachchi – 3MT competition 1st place
