Abstract: | Fun with Chemistry presents a short lecture on the fundamental differences of chemical and physical changes through several unique demonstrations, including the explosions, thunderclouds, and other fun experiments. Dr. B will make chemistry come alive and foster interest in learning and discovery for students of all ages by participation in hands-on activities. Fun with Chemistry is a science outreach program provided by the Department of Chemistry at The University of Texas at Austin that was created with the hope of inspiring students to focus on science and pursue a career in a chemistry-related field. slides |

Speaker’s Bio: | Kate “Dr. B” Biberdorf is a Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin. She is a general chemistry instructor and is particularly known for developing explosive demonstrations that excite undergraduate chemistry students. Outside of the classroom, Dr. B is often found at local Austin schools, promoting science education with her outreach program ‘Fun with Chemistry’. Watch her demos live on the third Wednesday of every month on her monthly TV segment on We are Austin. |
