Michael Allgeier,  Critical Infrastructure Security Director, ERCOT, gave an interesting and informative talk about protecting our Critical Infrastructure and understanding the various threats to it.  He described what Critical Infrastructure is and why should we care, and discussed what’s being done about it and what still needs to be done.  His review of  recent attacks from around the world which initiated lively questions and discussion among the attendees.

About the Speaker:

Michael Allgeier is the Critical Infrastructure Security Director for The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).  Michael has spent over 25 years in cyber and physical security with over 10 years specifically in the electric/utility sector and another 10 years as a US Army Special Agent primarily focusing on cyber espionage investigations and operations.  Michael holds a BA in Homeland Security from American Military University and is a graduate of the Joint Counterintelligence Training Academy.  He also has numerous technology and security certifications, military awards and decorations including for Valor and the Purple Heart.
