IEEE PI2 AUSTIN, FEBRUARY 2024 TECH MEETING: GOING NUCLEAR ON THE ELECTRICAL GRID
February 27 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Evan Rogers discussed the benefits, challenges and potential opportunities that nuclear energy can bring to the legacy grid. He presented a deeper dive into the benefits and challenges including: environmental safety, efficiency, cost & integration into the grid. Eric presented study cases for past & current nuclear failures, lessons learned along the way & how these lessons have fostered new engineering philosophies of nuclear energy.
Biography: Evan Rogers is an Electrical Engineer in Training with 7 years of experience under his belt in the power, research & technology industry. During his academic studies at Texas Tech University, he spent a year researching an alternative material, Thorium, along with the energy yield Thorium provides & the minimal enviormential impact it has. Evan is currently working as an Electrical Design Engineer at Ulteig.
