TryEngineering Interview “Ask An Engineer”: Christopher Sanderson
As part of IEEE TryEngineering program in partnership with Cricket Media. Our very own Christopher Sanderson, R5 South Area Chair and Houston Section Chair was interviewed recently. This was a continuation of a program that he participated in previously Engineers Make the World Better. TryEngineering Together is a unique eMentorship platform giving companies a resource to mobilize their employees as volunteers to inspire and educate the next generation of engineers, scientists and technical professionals.
His profile was initially part of one of six STEM engineering profiles that is being shared with students and teachers in grades 3 to 5, particularly those in economically underserved communities. Once students reach fourth grade research shows one-third have lost an interest in science, and by eighth grade nearly 50 percent have lost interest or deemed it irrelevant to their education or career plans. Reaching and inspiring elementary school students is critical to building young people’s confidence and acumen in STEM.
Let’s take do our part and share this interview with our fellow colleagues and future young STEM leaders.
