Night 1 – Group A will cover topic #1 and #2; Group B will cover Topic #2 and #3

Night 2 – Group A will cover topic #2 and #3; Group B will cover Topic #1 and #2

Overview:

Course is intended to provide demonstration/hands on experience on the following topics in regards to a NETA Maintenance and Acceptance Field Testing.  Additionally, course will cover the installation of Medium Voltage Cable Termination Kits.

Hands on demonstration portion

Topic #1

Low Voltage Circuit Breaker Testing – LV ACB with electronic trip unit (type and style TBD)

1. Visual and Mechanical Inspections

2. Insulation and Contact Resistance Testing

3. Verification of trip unit settings to coordination study

4. Secondary Current Injection Testing

    

Topic #2

Current Transformer Testing – Window type current transformer (type and style TBD)

1. Visual and Mechanical Inspections

2. Insulation Resistance testing

3. Ratio, Saturation, and Polarity testing

4. Loop Verification and burden checks

    

Topic #3

Relay Testing – Microprocessor based Protective Relay (type and style TBD)

1. Visual and Mechanical Inspections

2. Communication to relay (download / load setting files)

3. Verification of setting files to coordination study

4. Testing of relay protective elements via 3-phase secondary injection relay test set.

5. Testing of relay I/O
