Hydro Leduc specializes in the design and manufacture of piston pumps, hydraulic motors, hydropneumatic accumulators, and customized hydraulic components. Their products are found in the aerospace, construction, agriculture, oil & gas, marine, commercial transport, and other industries. Hydro Leduc’s innovations have resulted in over 150 patents. François Porel is the Director of Technology at Hydro Leduc, and has been at the company for nearly 14 years. His brother is also a Director at Hydro Leduc and his father only recently retired from the company. François has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering from ENIM (Metz National School of Engineering) and the University of Metz, respectively.

François will be discussing some of the challenging applications and solutions that Hydro Leduc is pursuing in the hydraulic pumps/motors area, and how the hydraulic systems must be combined with electrical sensors/controls to maximize their benefit. One application he will describe is energy recovery on oceanographic gliders. François will also discuss their microhydraulics division, and how high pressures (1000+bar) can be generated from tiny components.
