IEEE is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE’s highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E,” stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The association is chartered under this name and it is the full legal name. To learn more about the association’s name, please read the History of IEEE.

The San Antonio Life Members Affinity Group is an official Organizational Unit (OU) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, generally known as the IEEE, located in San Antonio, TX.  We are a part of the IEEE Lone Star Section, one of the world’s most active sections located in IEEE Region 5 (the Southwest Region in the United States).

We hold monthly meetings, bringing in distinguished speakers as well as technical experts from their particular industry.  We often tour key industries located in our area, like Southwest Research Institute, The Toyota Manufacturing Plant and the U. S. Air Force Research Laboratory on Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston.

We have been selected as one of the Outstanding Life Member Affinity Groups over many years of its existence.
