IEEE PI2 AUSTIN, FEBRUARY 2024 TECH MEETING: GOING NUCLEAR ON THE ELECTRICAL GRID
Balcones Country Club 8600 Balcones Club Dr, AustinEvan Rogers discussed the benefits, challenges and potential opportunities that nuclear energy can bring to the legacy grid. He presented a deeper dive into the benefits and challenges including: environmental safety, efficiency, cost & integration into the grid. Eric presented study cases for past & current nuclear failures, lessons learned along the way & how these lessons have fostered new engineering philosophies of nuclear energy. Biography: Evan Rogers is an Electrical Engineer in Training with 7 years of experience under his belt in the power, research & technology industry. During his academic studies at Texas Tech University, he spent a year researching an alternative material, Thorium, along with the energy yield Thorium provides & the minimal enviormential impact it has. Evan is currently working as an Electrical Design Engineer at Ulteig.
