WELCOME TO THE IEEE HOUSTON SECTION!

Student Chapters

Our chapter is an established engineering society that has been providing professional support and technical resources to the Greater Houston area for nearly a century.

The Houston Section is one of the 26 sections in IEEE Region 5 with 15 Society Chapters and Affinity Groups and 5 Student Branch Chapters. The Section provides planning and funding support to assure Chapters have vibrant programs to support members’ careers and meet the IEEE mission of Advancing Technology for Humanity.

Helping Professionals -The Continuing Education on Demand (CED) series is one of our premier programs in which professional engineers can attend technical conferences from accomplished experts in the engineering industry to gain professional development hours. The 2020-2021 CED program will begin around Fall of this year.

Helping Teachers –The Teachers in Service Program (TISP) is a partnership between the IEEE Houston section and school districts in the area – volunteers from IEEE help assist K-12 teachers in preparing workshops for students that introduce them to important STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) concepts.

Helping Students –The Houston section constantly encourages student branches in the area to stay active and keep members engaged. We also support student-branch events such as TAMUmake and other activities from students/professors that are willing to be engaged with IEEE. We are also important for helping students transition out of college through the Young Professionals program and various networking events.

Helping Current and Future IEEE members – We will always have opportunities available for willing volunteers to support the section – if you are interested in getting involved with the community, feel free to contact us about any open positions or come visit us at one of our events.
