IEEE Houston Section Student Activities Committee would like to invite the Houston area educators (K–12) to take part in our Teachers InService Program (TISP) workshop.
Our Goal is to partner with the different school districts in the greater Houston area to set up their own inservice workshops to utilize this valuable resource offered by IEEE. At the same time, we are trying to train a pool of volunteer of practicing engineers to go into our partner school districts to implement this program.
Our Mission is to provide preuniversity Teacher InService Programs, and general support to help improve interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, also encourage careers in these (STEM) fields.
You can learn more about TISP at IEEE’s ww.TryEngineering.org website. This website has an extensive list of standardized lesson plans for teachers’ usage in a classroom setting under a wide range of formats to encourage students to learn about science, math, technology and engineering.
This program is designed for more than just science and math teachers. Rather, we would like to invite teachers from K–12 grades and school administrators in different disciplines to participate.
Effective February 28, 2008, the IEEE – Houston Section’s TISP program is an approved Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Provider for the State of Texas. The Continuing Professional Education Provider number (CPE#) for IEEE – Houston Section (Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers) is 501320.
