OTC – Mark Bokenfohr
OTC – Mark Bokenfohr
Mark Bokenfohr (CEO of WiSub) and colleagues will be presenting on several topics related to subsea oil and gas production. One will be their 24V/1kW Torden pinless connector. The Torden is a microwave-based connector solution that allows subsea power transfer and high data rate communication without contact. It was nominated for a 2017 OTC Spotlight on New Technology Award and is a descendant of their Maelstrom technology which won the award in 2015. You can find more information on the Torden and Maelstrom products at http://www.wisub.com/. Mark will also discuss how the Torden has become the foundation for a new joint industry project WiSub is leading that aims to create a universal AUV interface for underwater communications and power. That project is partially financed by the Research Council of Norway and includes partners from industry and academia and could lead to an industry-wide standard for pinless underwater connection systems. Finally, Mark will discuss other WiSub R&D areas, including media-independent pinless data transfer.
