IEEE Standards Education Program at Prairie View A&M University

Recently the IEEE Houston Section in partnership with IEEE Standards Education team and the Prairie View A&M University AVAYA Networking Academy facilitated a multiple series workshop on “What are Standards?” The program was centered around the following areas:

  • What are Standards?
  • History of Standards?
  • Case Study on IEEE 515 Standard
  • What are Standards? Knowledge Assessment
  • Guest Speaker Mr. Don Fedyk, Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise
  • PVAMU Avaya Academy Student Presentations

Guest Speaker Mr. Don Fedyk, Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise in the Advanced Technology Group gave a unique presentations from an IEEE 802 Editor’s Viewpoint. Mr. Fedyk serves on the Standards Bodies of  IEEE 802.1, The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and The International Telecommunication Union (ITU). His work has been focused on the support of new data planes and Operations, Administration & Maintenance (OAM) for Ethernet. He’s  an inventor on over 30 granted patents.  He has been an author on 18 RFCs in IETF.
