PAYAL MAJUMDAR, PhD.

Currently, I am working as a Technical Specialist at Holland and Knight in Houston. Earlier, I worked as a Patent Engineer at OBWB LLP in Houston and as a Technical Advisor at Conley Rose P.C., in Houston. My role mainly involves patent prosecution and patent drafting along with patent search and analysis for the patent applications in the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, and Electronic Engineering.

I completed my doctoral studies in Electronic Science from the University of Delhi, India in 2012. From 2012 through 2014, I was employed as a foreign expert and post-doctorate research fellow in Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China. My area of specialization includes applicative research in Wireless Communications, Metamaterials (MTMs), Optical Physics, Antenna Design, Microstrip Antennas, Computational Electromagnetics, Radio Frequency (RF), and Microwave Design.

Since 2016, I have been actively associated with the IEEE Houston Section. I served as the Newsletter Chairperson in IEEE Houston Section from December 2017-December 2018, where my volunteering responsibilities include publishing monthly newsletter for the Section and writing articles for IEEE Houston website. I was also involved as IEEE Section Committee member in Signals & Systems and Women in Engineering groups respectively. I was also actively involved with the U.S. Department of Education recognized Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) program as part of my responsibilities as an IEEE Member. I was a presenter in the STEM Conference 2016 held in a Middle School of Spring ISD in Houston. I served as a Judge in the renowned Future City Competition (http://futurecity.org/), both in the local/zonal finals in Houston and national finals in Washington D.C. in 2017 and 2018. In addition, I also served as a judge in the Chevron sponsored Houston Science and Engineering Fair. Both these endeavors involved critically reviewing models developed by high school students.
