According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), nearly 1 billion people worldwide have no access to electricity. Conventional grid electrification is a prohibitively high cost solution for many of these remote communities. Low cost electrification alternatives through isolated solar home systems are typically limited only to basic power provisions such as light and mobile phone charging for few hours a day along with fans in some cases. Reliable and ample access to electricity is one of the key indicators of the socio-economic status of any country as it contributes to better health, education, and employment opportunities. Therefore, in this talk, the presenter will evaluate viable options for beyond subsistence off-grid electrification to bring vulnerable offgrid communities out of poverty so that they are able to contribute significantly towards their socioeconomic status.Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/277544
