Congratulations to our East Area paper competition winners for 2019!
Joshua Evans, 1st place, Lamar University
Noah Nelson, 2nd place, University of Arkansas
Ian Spatz, 3rd place, University of Arkansas
The East Area paper competition is held every year by Region 5 of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The East Area covers Arkansas, Louisiana and East Texas, and the paper competition is open to IEEE student members at Universities in that area. We judge the papers on their technical quality, writing proficiency and clarity. The judges this year were professionals in academia, government and industry and included both engineers and technical writers. Placing in the competition means that the student paper was able to convey a complex engineering topic to both experts and laypersons. The First, second, and third place Area Student Paper Competition winners receive $125, $100, and $75, respectively, certificates and a fully reimbursed trip to compete in the IEEE Region 5 Student Paper Competition.
