IEEE Day is an annual event celebrating the first time in history when engineers worldwide gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884. One of the IEEE Day’s objectives is to show the ways IEEE members, in local communities, join together to collaborate on ideas that leverage technology for a better tomorrow. Region 5 is celebrating IEEE Day with a series of online and hybrid events that highlight technology – from its development to its use in the arts and how it drives policy!

IEEE Day Events are organized by the local organizational unit and happen on around IEEE Day – 29 September – 12 October 2024.  Region 5 units that want their event featured by Region 5, or wish to co-host these events, can contact news@r5.ieee.org or event organizers as listed.

Oct 19th, all day: Region 5 Section Telethon

The Region 5 History committee with the support of the Galveston Bay Section and its OUs is planning a ZOOM Telethon on Saturday, October 19th for all sections that want to participate in the event. All participating sections will have 5 to 7 minutes of video clips of their event that they will present at the event attended by R5 dignitaries.
PLEASE ADVISE IF YOUR SECTION WILL BE PLANNING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TELETHON WITH A CLIP OF YOUR SECTION’S IEEE-DAY EVENT SO THAT WE INCLUDE YOUR SECTION’S PARTICIPATION IN THE AGENDA.
The event will be announced on VTOOLS for members to attend online(ZOOM information will be mailed to all registrants).
