PES members, join us for a Utility company laydown yard tour, Tuesday morning, February 24th. Sponsored by Entergy, we are visiting one of their laydown yards where large high voltage parts and equipment are staged for construction and emergencies. There will be all types of equipment there, including HV transformers, MV cables, linemen equipment, and very important- mobile units (HV-MV transformer skid).
We will be joined by a dozen or so students from Texas A&M as part of our outreach with student chapters. Boxed lunch will be provided.
This will be a two hour educational tour, accounting for 2 technical PDH. All equipment will have a nameplate, which will state ratings. All ratings have definitions, and those deep consideration to the limitations of those definitions a good gateway to IEEE standards. This will be our first time hosting this tour so come with questions.
