SW MO IEEE Section Speaker Meeting – Balancing Safety and Capacity – Improving Hwy 86 to Thunder Ridge Nature’s Arena

September 19 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT

Austin Hostettler, Great River Engineering will give an overview on Project Engineering. The Hwy 86/Thunder Ridge Nature Arena project aimed to increase roadway capacity for a large event venue in rural southwest Missouri while maintaining safety during regular traffic. Following the arenas expansion announcement, and a Garth Brooks concert that highlighted severe traffic issues, the design team had to address event-related congestion without encouraging unsafe speeds during normal conditions. This $20 million project, completed within a year, improved safety and traffic flow, reducing crashes by nearly 50%, and balanced theneeds of large-scale events and rural traffic.
Snack and beverages will be provided at the Missouri State University physical location
