Room: PCTR 2010, Bldg: Robert Plaster Free Enterprise Bldg, 405 Jefferson Ave, Springfield, Missouri, United States, 65804, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/445804Pete Ottoson, Sr. Manager Construction Engineering Associated Electric, will present on the effects of plant retirements, resource mix, and load growth impacting grid reliability on the nation's electricity supply. For Associated Electric, this trend was brought to the forefront during the winters of 2021 and 2022 with storms Uri and Elliott. New peak demands were set that far exceeded previous peaks, leading to concerns about relying on intermittent resources for capacity. To mitigate risks of brown outs, Associated is building new, dispatchable resources to meet the growing demand of the membership. The meeting will be held at the Missouri State University Robert Plaster building and Virtual on Zoom. Location information provided in the "Location" section. The physical meeting location will provide snack and beverages.
