IEEE-USA Livestream Webinar: Engineering Safer Futures – The SAFE Leader Approach to Masculinity and Inclusion in Engineering
IEEE-USA Livestream Webinar: Engineering Safer Futures – The SAFE Leader Approach to Masculinity and Inclusion in Engineering
Join us for a transformative session exploring the critical intersections of safety, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the engineering profession. Led by Dr. Mark McBride-Wright, author of The SAFE Leader and a globally recognized advocate for inclusion in engineering, this webinar dives deep into how traditional norms of masculinity impact safety culture, workplace inclusion, and mental health in engineering. Discover actionable insights from the SAFE Leader framework—Share, Act, Feel, Empower—and learn how to foster an environment where every engineer can thrive. By addressing societal pressures, breaking down barriers, and empowering leaders to embrace DEI as a core component of safety culture, participants will leave with tools to drive meaningful change in their organizations. This webinar is a must-attend for engineers, leaders, and DEI advocates striving to create safer, more inclusive engineering spaces. Mastering Product Variations by Creating a Universal Language for Software Customization Across Industries
Mastering Product Variations by Creating a Universal Language for Software Customization Across Industries
Synopsis: In the world of software and product development, making artifacts customizable for different needs is crucial. The research community has made great strides with the Universal Variability Language (UVL), a tool that helps define and manage these customizations. However, while UVL is helpful, it doesn't cover everything. This talk introduces a new concept called the Generic REAlization Language (GREAL). GREAL aims to fill the gaps that UVL left behind, especially when it comes to applying customizations to the core parts of a product line. Key features of GREAL include: Openness: Easily adaptable to different industries and uses. Flexibility: Can handle various types of customizations. Declarativity: Simple and clear rules for customization. Reusability: Can be applied to multiple projects without starting from scratch. The speaker will show how GREAL works with different base languages like UML, Java, and documentation. The speaker will also discuss a successful large-scale deployment of GREAL for Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) at Airbus. Join us to explore how this new tool can make software and product customization more efficient and versatile. Speaker(s): Dr. Vishnu S. Pendyala, Prof. Jézéquel Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/468361
