The IEEE Pikes Peak Young Professionals (YPs) program is excited to announce our Fall programming, which seeks to connect YPs within the section and expand engagement within the IEEE community. The program will feature a series of events aimed at young researchers/professionals and students with tools to succeed as early career professionals. The program will culminate in the Inaugural Best Student Presentation Competition in the IEEE Pikes Peak Section. Our kick-off event will introduce attendees to how to present technical matters effectively in a talk given by Danielle Griffiths, a Fellow at Texas Instruments. More detailed information about the talk can be found below. Abstract: You’ve spent years at university honing your technical knowledge, but this alone is not enough to ensure success in your career. Communications skills are essential to achieving your goals. You need to be able to express your ideas clearly so that everyone understands their value. This talk will describe the four steps of preparing to give a technical presentation and give you tips to make your presentation have the impact it deserves. The material is targeted towards preparing to give your first high visibility presentation, such as ISSCC, but the points can be adapted to a wide range of situations, from presenting your ideas to your department head, your thesis advisor, or at an internal conference.
