Description: Topic will be presented by Stephen Ellis, GISP, CMS. Steve has over 35 years of experience in Mapping, Survey, GIS, IT, and Engineering. He currently is the Utility Manager for the Americas at Fugro, focusing on Power Distribution and Transmission. Steve is retired from the U.S. Air Force where he was a combat engineer responsible for Electrical Power Production, Transmission, and Distribution. Steve holds a degree in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Technology from the Air Force and a certificate in Geomatics from the University of Florida. Steve is a Certified Mapping Scientist, a GIS Professional, and a FAA Licensed UAS Remote Pilot. Speaker Bio: Steve will be discussing the two primary airborne data collection platforms used by Entergy, Fixed-wing Aircraft and UAS (Drones). He will define the requirements that would dictate which platform to use and the benefits of each as it applies to power projects. The presentation will also outline the safety protocols and operational considerations for each method of collection.
