1. Executive Summary
This proposal extends the proven STEAM-TEAMS model into a specialized Greentech Pathway focused on renewable energy, sustainability, and hands-on engineering.
The project culminates in a STEAM-TEAMS Greentech Showcase at the IEEE Greentech 2026 Conference in Denver, where K–12 students, parents, and teachers engage with IEEE volunteers, industry partners, and engineering leaders in interactive demonstrations.
This proposal builds:
-
A multi-Section energy education initiative
-
A renewables-themed STEAM kit series
-
AI-assisted multimedia lessons for green engineering
-
A region-wide “Energy Explorers” activity path
-
A portable DOCK (Deployable Outreach Community Kit) specialized for Greentech
STEAM-TEAMS becomes a direct on-ramp for students to learn about clean energy, electrification, sustainability, and engineering careers, while strengthening the Region 5 pipeline from K–12 → University → YP → LMAG.
2. Strategic Goals & Alignment
Goals
-
Introduce 300+ students across Region 5 to green engineering concepts via hands-on activities.
-
Train 40+ volunteers (LMAG, YP, Students) to deliver sustainability-themed workshops.
-
Build new Greentech-Specific STEAM-TEAMS materials including:
-
Solar circuits
-
Wind energy models
-
Energy-efficiency demonstrations
-
-
Deliver a high-impact Greentech 2026 Educational Activity Track using portable STEAM-TEAMS stations.
-
Document all activities into reusable proof-of-work modules for other Sections.
Alignment with Region 5 Strategic Plan
The project advances Region 5 objectives:
-
Strengthening Section vitality through hands-on, high-visibility outreach
-
Deepening industry engagement, especially in energy and sustainability sectors
-
Expanding the student → YP pipeline through mentorship-based programs
-
Supporting emerging technologies, including AI, renewables, and electrification
-
Engaging underserved communities through portable DOCK units
It leverages Pikes Peak’s successful hands-on model described in the attached proposal .
3. Project Description
The Greentech Pathway adds a new layer onto the existing STEAM-TEAMS framework:
A. Greentech-Themed Demonstrations for K–12 (Hands-On)
Each Section will deliver 3–6 activities tailored to green engineering:
-
Build a Solar-Powered Racer (mini solar panels + small motors)
-
Wind Turbine Design Challenge (3D-printed or Makerspace blades)
-
Energy Storage Basics (capacitors, LEDs, power delivery demos)
-
“Electricity from Fruit” (renewable energy awareness)
-
Heat Transfer & Insulation Challenge (house efficiency mini-build)
-
Water Turbine Generator Models
These are complemented by Squishy Circuits and motor-building fundamentals from the Pikes Peak model .
B. Greentech DOCK Kit (Portable Green Engineering Lab)
A specialized DOCK unit will be built including:
-
Solar panel kits
-
Mini wind turbine base plates
-
USB rechargeable battery packs
-
LED circuit labs
-
Energy efficiency visual demos
-
Printable AI-assisted blueprint posters
-
Safety and sustainability worksheets
This makes the Greentech Pathway “grab-and-go” for any Section.
C. Greentech 2026 Conference Educational Track
The project culminates in:
STEAM-TEAMS ENERGY HALL
A dedicated K–12 and family engagement area featuring:
-
6–10 hands-on stations
-
Guided engineering challenges
-
STEM passport stamps for students
-
Energy career pathways wall
-
LMAG–YP mentorship booths
-
AI-generated engineering career posters
-
Live demonstrations by Section volunteers
This becomes a flagship Region 5 event.
D. AI-Assisted Educational Media
Students and volunteers will benefit from AI-generated:
-
Greentech lesson animations
-
Blueprint-style engineering diagrams
-
Step-by-step visuals for solar/wind demos
-
“Future of Energy Careers” portrait series
-
Video explainers
These build on the multimedia structure of your original proposal .
4. Timeline (Feb–Oct 2026)
Feb – Build energy-themed STEAM-TEAMS kits + DOCK unit
Mar–Apr – Train volunteers; pilot activities in Pikes Peak + Denver
May–Jun – Expand pilot to Houston and other Sections
Jul – AI-assisted media production
Aug–Sep – Finalize Greentech Showcase materials
